Moms Meal Data Compromise Announced
Breach Exposes Personal Information of 1.2 Million People
Mom's Meals, a medical meal delivery service, has suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of 1.2 million customers and employees. The breach was discovered on February 22, 2023, but the company believes that it may have occurred as early as January 16, 2023.
The data that was stolen includes names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, state identification numbers, financial account information, payment card information, medical record numbers, Medicare and Medicaid identification numbers, health information, treatment information, diagnosis codes, meal category and cost, health insurance information, and patient ID numbers. For more than 1% of the affected individuals, Social Security numbers were also exposed.
Mom's Meals is notifying all affected individuals of the breach and is offering them free credit monitoring and identity protection services for one year. The company is also working with law enforcement to investigate the breach and bring the perpetrators to justice.
